Why your website gets traffic but no leads

By George D Papdan18 October 20265 min read

The short answer

Usually it's not the traffic. It's that visitors can't quickly tell what you do, whether you serve them and what it costs, or they can't easily call or enquire on a phone. Fix those and the same traffic starts converting.

If your analytics show people arriving but nobody's calling, more SEO won't fix it. The problem is what happens after someone lands.

The usual suspects

1. It doesn't say what you do, fast enough

Visitors decide in seconds. If your homepage opens with a stock photo and "Welcome to our website", they leave. Say what you do, where and for whom in the first line.

2. No prices, no clues

People want a rough idea of cost before they call. You don't need a full price list, but "from $X" or a clear explanation of what affects price builds trust and filters out time-wasters.

3. Getting in touch is hard on a phone

Most visits are on mobile. If the phone number isn't a tap-to-call button and the form is 12 fields long, you're losing people. Put a call button and a short form on every page.

4. It's slow

A slow site loses visitors before they see anything. Page builders and heavy themes are common culprits.

5. No proof

Real reviews, real names, real results. A single genuine case study does more than a page of claims.

6. You can't see what's working

If calls and form submissions aren't tracked, you're guessing. Set them up as conversions in Google Analytics.

A real example

Property Valuation Vic had all of these problems. We rebuilt the site with clear pricing, a call-back form on every page, a mobile call bar, fast static pages and proper Google setup. It went from zero enquiries to five a week in under a month, with no ads.
