Why move off Shopify?
Why do we do this?
Because Shopify is getting more expensive and less flexible, and a lot of Australian businesses are paying top-tier prices just to get basic things working. Did you know you need Shopify's Advanced plan, over $600 a month, just to show your courier's live shipping rates at checkout? On WordPress and WooCommerce, the checkout is yours. No plan to upgrade to, and no restrictions on the questions you ask or the rules your business needs.
- 01
Over $600 a month for live shipping rates
Live courier rates at checkout come with Shopify's Advanced plan: A$575 a month billed monthly, before GST. On smaller plans it's a paid add-on.
- 02
A locked-down checkout
Full checkout customisation is only on Shopify Plus, from A$3,700 a month. On WooCommerce you get complete checkout flexibility from day one.
- 03
Ask what your business needs to ask
Delivery instructions, trade account numbers, sizes, measurements, booking times: add any question to checkout, with no restrictions.
- 04
Shipping rules that fit
Postcode zones, weights, couriers, pick-up, free shipping over a set amount. Set it up your way.
- 05
You own it
Your store, your data, on servers we run in Australia. You're not renting space on someone else's platform.
- 06
One team for store and hosting
We build the store and run the server it sits on, so when something isn't working we can fix it straight away.

A good fit if
- You sell on Shopify and the monthly bill keeps climbing
- You need custom shipping, checkout questions or business rules Shopify won't allow without a bigger plan
- You'd rather pay one clear price than another monthly subscription
Not the right fit if
- Shopify's Basic plan already does everything you need
- You don't sell online (see WordPress hosting and SEO)

Questions about moving from Shopify
How much does it cost to move from Shopify to WordPress?
$2,500 + GST. That moves your store to WordPress and WooCommerce and includes the first year of hosting, SSL, WordPress maintenance, 3 email accounts, and SEO, AI search and page speed optimisation. After that, hosting is $400 + GST a year.
What moves across from Shopify?
Everything that matters: all your products, customers and past orders move to WooCommerce, along with your pages. Your old Shopify web addresses are redirected to the new ones.
Why is Shopify so expensive for custom shipping?
Live courier rates at checkout (carrier-calculated shipping) come with Shopify's Advanced plan, A$575 a month billed monthly before GST, or as a paid add-on on smaller plans. On WooCommerce, shipping is set up the way you need it as part of your store.
Can I add my own questions to the checkout?
Yes. On WooCommerce the checkout is fully yours, so you can ask for delivery instructions, trade account numbers, measurements or anything else your business needs. On Shopify, full checkout customisation is limited to Shopify Plus.
Is WooCommerce free?
WooCommerce itself is free, open-source software that runs on WordPress. Some stores need paid WooCommerce extensions or specialised plugins, which can add an annual cost. We'll go through this with you during the consultation and review, so there are no surprises.
Will I lose my Google rankings if I leave Shopify?
Not if the move is done properly. We redirect your old Shopify web addresses to the new pages and resubmit your sitemap to Google and Bing, so the rankings you've built carry over. No one can guarantee rankings, but a careful move protects them.
What happens after the first year?
Hosting renews at $400 + GST a year. That keeps your hosting, SSL, WordPress maintenance and 3 email accounts going.
Do the prices include GST?
No. With GST, the move is $2,750 and hosting after the first year is $440 a year.
